Multi-Pure Water Filter System – Certified For Arsenic V in Drinking Water
Arsenic is present in water as a colorless, tasteless, and an odorless but harmful chemical; it can occur naturally in some ground waters. Water should be tested in the laboratory to confirm they are present in your drinking water, or you could buy one of those home testing kits for arsenic. Water supply authorities are required to test for arsenic before water is distributed to homes. The results should be available upon request at your local water authority.
Well owners can have their water tested or use the arsenic testing kit. Well water owners can also obtain certified testing laboratories from their local health department or the state environmental health agency for a list of certified labs. Arsenic testing costs could be between $15 and $30 and more information can be found on the USEPA website.
Arsenic occurs in two forms: pentavalent arsenic (also called As (V), As (+5), and arsenate) and trivalent arsenic (also called As (III), As (+3), and arsenite). Well water may contain the pentavalent, trivalent arsenic, or a combination of both. Lab analysis could determine the form of arsenic in your well water.
Arsenic in water has come to the forefront as a result of a recent study by the Water Quality Association (WQA). The result of the study shows that the two top most drinking water contaminants that are of concern to most Americans are lead and arsenic. However, there are not many home treatment systems available to treat arsenic in water, but currently, Multi-Pure has been the only manufacturer with a filter system that NSF certified to reduce levels of Arsenic V.
For nearly 40 years, Multi-Pure has been in the drinking water business and it’s the leader in the drinking water industry with products that treat both lead and arsenic. Multi-Pure’s specially formulated activated carbon block systems are very effective in removing pentavalent arsenic. The Multi-Pure MP880 Models are designed to remove only pentavalent arsenic and will not convert trivalent arsenic to pentavalent arsenic. The system was tested in a laboratory to remove pentavalent arsenic.
Under the rigorous ANSI/NSF testing Standard 53, the system reduced 0.050 mg/L (ppm) pentavalent arsenic to 0.010 mg/L (ppm) or less. You may also have the filtered water tested for arsenic to confirm the effectiveness of the system. The Multi-Pure Model MP750 Plus RO is also certified under the ANSI/NSF Standard 53 to reduce arsenic in drinking water.
Therefore, if you confirm that your water is contaminated with arsenic and you are looking for a filtration system, the Multi-Pure MP880 Models or the reverse osmosis Model MP750 Plus RO model have been certified to make your water healthy to drink.
